Beijing Capital International Airport

As China’s No.1 Gateway, Beijing Capital International Airport is the most important and the busiest airport of China. It is located in the capital of China, Beijing, about 25 km from the center of Beijing, under the control of Air China. It is not only an important aviation hub of China, but also an essential transportation center of the world. Moreover, it can be used for civil aviation.

At present, Beijing Capital International Airport is the only one with 3 terminals and 3 runways in the Asia-Pacific area. There are 3 terminals. Terminal 1 covers an area of 61,580 square meters, which was put into effect in 1980. It is specially used by domestic flights of Hainan Airlines Group, including Hainan Airline, Grand China Airlines, Grand China Express, Capital Airlines and Tianjin Airlines. Terminal 2 occupies 336,000 square meters and was officially opened in 1999. It is for China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Chongqing Airlines, international flights of Hainan Airlines and foreign airlines of SkyTeam Alliance. Terminal 3 is the world’s largest integrated terminal and was finished at the end of 2007, with state-of-the-art facilities and high quality. Terminal 3 for China Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, as well as foreign airlines of the Star Alliance, Oneworld’s foreign airlines and non-union foreign airline service.

The Special Terminal is located in the west of Terminal 3, covering an area of 6600 square meters. The terminal is mainly used for government officials. Corporate Jet Terminal is located on the southwest side of the special terminal, covering an area of 1900 square meters. Moreover, there are air cargo bases in the airport, including air freight area, international shipment monitoring center, import and export customs surveillance zone, Beijing airport bonded logistics center and integrated office facilities.

As for the geographical location, the aviation hub is at the core sites of Europe, Asia and North America, with the advantages of a simple and convenient transfer and an effective mechanism. Domestic airlines such as Air China, Eastern Airlines, Southern Airlines and Hainan Airline are all have their operating hubs in Beijing Capital International Airport and Star Alliance, Skyteam Alliance and Oneworld Alliance see it as an transfer hub. Moreover, it is one of the busiest airline in the world. There are 1700 flights of 236 airports taking off and landing here. The number will increase afterwards, making it an important international aviation hub.

Tips:
1 Visitors have to confirm the terminal before boarding and there are ferry carts between terminals.
2 There are free WiFi in the terminals. Visitors can ask for account numbers with their valid certificates. One can ask for three numbers every day, with each one used for 5 hours.
3 One can take airport express to Beijing, with one person 25RMB. Airport bus takes 16RMB for a person.
